Zone AH is an area subject to inundation by 1% annual chance shallow flooding with a constant water-surface elevation (usually areas of ponding) where average depths are between 1 and 3 feet.Residents and business owners can view maps to better understand their potential flood risk to help identify steps they may need to take to protect against property damage and flood loss.įlood Zone Designations – What Do They Mean? These maps are referred to as Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and illustrate flood hazards throughout the community and are used when determining flood insurance policy rates. The new 2012 Flood Zone Maps replace the existing 2005 maps using updated and more detailed information. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in a co-operative agreement with Collier County and the City of Naples has just completed a major effort to develop detailed digital flood hazard maps that reflect current flood risks throughout the community. 2012 Flood Insurance Rate Maps are in effect for construction and insurance purposes!
